August- Weekend 1

The C family has another busy month under our belt.  We have been so fortunate to have spent this month with family and friends!  NC's cousin from California came to check out the farm life in North Dakota for a week.  AA spent a week at the farm with NC's mom and dad.  We had not seen AA since our wedding 5.5 years ago.  She is as beautiful as ever and we enjoyed reconnecting with her.  Our trip back to the farm included a visit to the neighbor's.  They raise miniature horses which have won show awards.  They have a very unique set up at their farm.  These horses are priceless and one was ready to foal.  They have video camera set up and beepers attached to the momma horse to monitor her in the event she was ready to labor.  Interestingly, the video cameras also feed live on an internet stream so concerned parties can watch the new baby enter the world!  Since these horses are so well known they have a following including people from different countries!  The internet fans also serve as "baby-sitters" in the sense that if the owners have to run to town for groceries or can't be available, they will monitor momma and call if they see her go into labor.  It was very cool to learn about these famous horses.  IC LOVED them!

That weekend we also brought the piano from the farm.  It was the piano that NC learned on!  That was quite a feat to get it moved.  Thankfully, I work with a couple of strapping young men who are very strong.  I am forever in their debt for so kindly helping NC move that heavy honker up our stairs.  IC starts Suzuki (taught by ear, not reading sheet music) piano on Tuesday.  She'll be going to lessons every week for 30 minutes.  It was required to purchase a CD filled with the music she will be learning and suggested to listen to 100 hours before the lessons.  Seems like alot, but when you have it playing on repeat as background noise it counts.  She hasn't tired of the CD and even requests it for her bedtime music.  We are also required to attend all lessons with her so we can continue the teachings at home.  Hopefully, I will pick some of it up and can maybe learn a song or two!

Weekend 2...coming soon!
